PERSONAL DETAILS

DESCRIPTION:
Standing at a rather tall height of 5’7” and bearing a rather slender, athletic build, Laurelei certainly serves as a rather imposing sight for so young a woman. Her body is lean and toned, the result of years of rigorous training. Though her figure is not exactly “womanly” she still retains a fair amount of curvature, which has been a source of frustration to her ever since her mid-teens. She bears piercing blue eyes, as sharp and deadly as the blade she often carries into battle. Possessing perhaps an even sharper point is her voice, a mature alto that is nearly always brimming with condescension. Her auburn hair is kept short for practicality’s sake, though many of her more conservative superiors think it unbecoming of a young lady. Of course, she’s never been that lady-like. Despite having worn a sister’s habit for near half her life, she’s much more comfortable in a plain black pair of pants and a white turtleneck. She generally wears a black jacket over this, and always adorns herself with a silver and amethyst rosary. In Infernis, her attire is transformed into armor of silver and ebony, emblazoned with a violet cross on the chest.

PERSONALITY:
Laurelei has spent her entire life being told that she is the sword of God, and it’s a sentiment she takes very seriously. In her discourse, she is as rigid and unforgiving as her weapon. With her superiors she is both respectful and confident, and with those below her she’s cold as steel. The young woman is dedicated entirely to her cause, and thus has little time for leisurely and lighthearted affairs. Social interaction, to her, is the worst punishment one can suffer, closely followed by indolence. She would rather be strengthening either her wit or her sword arm than lazing about in some sort of political affair. Though she’s incredibly intelligent, boasting a genius level IQ, her introversion leaves her a bit lacking in terms of interpersonal skills. It’s often hard for her to understand human constructs such as sarcasm, or indeed humor in general. In fact, the most basic of emotions, from merriment to sorrow are all foreign entities to her. Her mind has been purged of feeling, leaving her a machine as devout and unyielding as she is lethal.

Though she is lacking in compassion, she takes her position very seriously and is always sure to dispense justice with a fair and even hand. However, her near-fanatical dedication can often lead her to the verge of what some might consider cruelty. She is not one to vouch for forgiveness, and holds the general belief that a sinner shall never truly repent. She herself abstains from nearly all earthly vices in her attempts to remain a paragon of virtue. However, she is not without her faults. She does possess a bit of a temper, which can lead her to be quite destructive at times. She can also be competitive to a fault, with the same disastrous consequences.

HISTORY:
Laurelei’s childhood was quite an unusual thing. She was born into a devoutly catholic household to parents Tobias and Viktoria Weiss. However, she remembers little of them. Her father’s soot-stained, bearded face after a day of hard labor, her mother’s protective embrace, are but distant memories to her. At a very early age, the young girl began exhibiting behavior that walked the line between ingenious and inhuman. As if under some spell, the young girl of three would scrawl out Latin verse. In a highly religious town, this drew considerable attention. The girl was quickly deemed to be sent from god. By the time she was in Kindergarten, she had begun scribing mathematical equations on the blackboard. This caught the attention of some very powerful people, among them the Templars.

A priest by the name of Allan was sent to investigate this “miracle child.” He was no longer early in his years, but had become a trusted agent of the Templar organization. The old priest visited the Weiss home in late winter, during Laurelei’s first year of school. Her parents were quick to invite a man of the cloth into their home, and eagerly cooperated when he informed them that he’d been sent by the Vatican to inquire about their daughter. Allan was quick to analyze the formulas the girl had been scribbling out, and soon discovered that they were in fact based on data regarding disasters of both the natural and anthropogenic variety. The data was put through a complex algorithm that, in essence, proved the existence of the demonic plane. Sure that this was a sign from God, Allan sent word to his superiors, who requested that the girl be moved immediately to one of their training facilities.

Laurelei’s parents were surprisingly willing to part with their only daughter. God-fearing as they were, it was not their place to question his divine will. They had, it seemed, foreseen such events taking place ever since the girl first began to demonstrate her unique talents. Imparting their daughter with all their love, they placed her in the hands of Allan and bade her farewell. Within the year, the Weiss residence was destroyed in an unexpected fire. Both of Laurelei’s parents were killed in the blaze, though she never received word of it. It was not long before the girl lost almost all memory of the parents she had once known.

Under the guidance of father Allan, Laurelei was brought to a small convent in London, where she began training as both a sister and a demon slayer. By day she learned English, played music, and read scripture. By night she studied the occult and learned how to kill. She was never outwardly rebellious in the convent, but pressed an ever-silent revolt against her life there. Even at a young age, she preferred Allan’s teachings on demonology to the quiet life of the nuns. Her boredom was apparent, increasingly so as she grew older. By the time she was ten years old, she spent the majority of her time at the convent in her sleeping quarters, practicing the fighting techniques Father Allan had showed her. The old monk was remarkably skilled for so old a fellow, and had taught her the art of the sword as well as the fist. She’d taken to fencing immediately, and had drawn herself into seclusion so that she could train at all hours. It was clear that life among the sister’s would no longer suit her. It was time for the girl to begin work in the field.

Saying her goodbyes to Father Allan, the closest thing to an actual father she could remember having, Laurelei was sent to America to begin training under a man by the name of Smith. There was some indication that a young protogee would keep the notable loose-cannon from firing off too frequently. It didn’t. Laurelei never quite got used to Reverend Smith. His behavior was erratic, his methods unorthodox. However, after spending her adolescent years under his leadership, she was transformed from a warrior of great potential to a warrior of lethal aptitude. At just 18 years of age, Laurelei is one of the youngest active Templars in recent history.
