#102 - Aradia
ARADIA
Diana greatly loved her brother Lucifer, the god of the Sun and of the Moon, the god of Light (Splendor), who was so proud of his beauty, and who for his pride was driven from Paradise.
Diana had by, her brother a daughter, to whom they gave the name of Aradia [i.e. Herodias]. p. 1; Aradia, Gospel of the Witches
Name: s'Araja dimoniu (Araja the demon)
Aliases: Herodias, Erodiade, Arada, Irodiada, Araja, s'Araja justa (Araja the just), sa Rejusta, Doamna Zinelor (Queen of the Fairies), 'the beautiful Pilgrim', Saint Guglielma, Persephone, Aradia of the Sun and Moon, Araidia, Aridia, Aricia, Aritia, and The High Priestess
Sphere: While she has made a home in the Spirelands, she does travel.
Tier: Elite

- When you're the daughter of a moon goddess and well, Satan, you tend to be blessed with certain attributes. Like her mother, Diana (or Artemis, if you want to get technical) she has an affinity for the moon and the stars. Lunacy is one of her specialities. Driving any normal, sensible person into a madman during the full moon, she's taken credit for many horrendous crimes because of her influence.
Tis true indeed that thou a spirit art,
But thou wert born but to become again
A mortal; thou must go to earth below
To be a teacher unto women and men
Who fain would study witchcraft in thy school - p. 4; Aradia, Gospel of the witches
- Once revered as a type of feminine messiah for her knowledge of magick and the dark arts, she brazenly considers herself the mother of magic and witches. Come to her if you need some vengeance, or some type of remedy. It all comes with a price, however. Nothing is ever free. And if you cross her, every wrong you've done to her shall be increased ten-fold on you.
And ye shall all be freed from slavery,
And so ye shall be free in everything;
And as the sign that ye are truly free,
Ye shall be naked in your rites, both men
And women also: this shall last until
The last of your oppressors shall be dead - p. 6; Aradia, Gospel of the Witches
- While her origins are, in a way, 'divine', she's still connected to the desires of the flesh. While she's less of a sex/succubus type demon, she does get a surge of health and energy from sexual activity. Usually, she's unable to PHYSICALLY experience these things, so she siphons those pleasures from her already small amount of worshippers. Sure, it can kill them, but it keeps her alive, doesn't it? She's also a source of 'wet dreams' and can whisper into the ears of a more weak-willed victim to suggest naughtier activities.
Who am I? I am your little soul, that talks unconcernedly
to your great, your proper soul. . . . We are inseparable.
Do you rightly know how long I have been with you?
For more than a thousand years.
For I was your mother's, and her mother's, your grandmother's and
great-grandmother's. . . . I am the genius of the hearth and home."
"Tempter! tempter! . . . but what will you do?"
"I will make your husband rich, and you powerful, so that folk shall fear you."
"What say you? Are you then the demon of hidden treasures?"

- She takes an advisor's role to her more sympathetic of victims. Instead of bleeding them dry, she believes them to be useful and needed and requests that they do more of her bidding. Pray to her, and she will give power against your enemies. Sacrifice the innocent and she will give you strength. It's a pity that it will never be enough for her. The more you give her, the more she will want and the longest she will keep you and suck you dry of any favor you had with God.
"We are children of the Moon;
We are born of shining light;
When the Moon shoots forth a ray,
Then it takes a fairy's form." - p. 122, "How the Fairies Were Born"; Aradia, Gospel of the Witches
- 'Fairies', as they're called, are her small, cherub-like, attendants that serve her every whim and need in Inferis. They are, essentially, her slaves. They fight for her, protect her, feed her, clothe, and shelter her. She is never seen without one or two of her tiny friends and they reproduce asexually. It's rumored, that these fairies are the fate of any soul that dares to make a contract with her. In a group, they are vicious and bloodthirsty, not unlike a school of piranha.
- Fairies:
Miscellaneous Notes:
- She appears to be warm, kind, albeit, very unattainable and distant, at first. In reality, she is as cruel and hateful as the rest of her brethren and her father, Lucifer.
- She is somewhat resentful of her father's abandonment as a child and will rant on and on about it.
- Is extremely vain, and despises girls/women (and some men) who are prettier than her. In fact, those are the ones that she attempts to ruin the most.
- Is usually naked.
- Likes flowers, fruit, trees, sugar, orgies, and blood sacrifices.
- Really likes blood sacrifices.
- Blood from a virgin is preferred.
- Hates her dad.
- Has a slightly more loving relationship with her mother, Diana/Artemis.
- Is worshipped as a minor goddess in Wicca and Italian Folk Religion
- A megalomaniac to the core.
- Honestly? She's a bitch.
- Her back story before Inferis, is literally this; Her mother was losing worshippers, she gets sent down to earth as 'Aradia Germamotta' of Volterra, Italy during the middle ages. She creates a small band/cult that travelled over most of Eastern Europe with the attempt of overthrowing the Roman Catholic Church. She fails, epically, and is burnt at the stake. Over the years, her story is passed down from generation to generation until the 1800's where a biography of her life and the worship of her mother, Diana is written, which becomes the basis of a modern Italian form of witchcraft which is still alive, today. Basically, she was a false prophetess who grew too proud.
